Why It's So Important To Develop Your Team

You are the leader of your team - that’s a big responsibility. Of course as a leader you are committed to communicating a compelling vision for your team; clear, measurable and accountable outcomes; and providing the resources and tools in order from them to succeed. But in addition to all that, it is your responsibility to develop your team members. Too often, because of either a lack of funding, an absence of the intrinsic value of development, or merely the tyranny of the urgent - development doesn’t happen.

Here are 3 reasons you need to be developing your team members and staff.

  1. You can’t afford NOT to do it!

  2. You need to be a faithful steward of those that have been entrusted to you.

  3. You have to play the long game.

Development doesn’t need to be difficult or costly. It can be simple and affordable.

  • Online training courses abound

  • Books that you can read and discuss as a team

  • Send them to conferences (many don’t even require overnight travel)

You just need to do it- you can’t afford not to!
